Scaffold Building
Scaffold Builders are responsible for assembling and dismantling scaffolding structures that allow workers to access specific portions of the structure to perform needed work.
Responsibilities include identifying safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate risks, measuring, marking, and cutting required wooden/metallic materials, assisting with the construction, re-enforcement, and dismantling of scaffolds and reading blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work.

If you do not have any industrial experience or training, look for “Helper 3” scaffold builder positions. If you do have experience in this field, look for jobs with qualifications that match your skills.
Generally, positions fall into these categories:
Helper: Helper Scaffold Builders assist with the construction, dismantling, and repair of wooden and metal scaffolds and auxiliary structures related to scaffolds. Positions range from entry level (Helper 3) more experienced helpers with an average of four to five years of experience.
Pipefitters: Journeyman Scaffold Builders construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal scaffolds and auxiliary structures related to scaffold. Requirements are listed by position, but generally four to five years of journeyman experience or significant helper experience is required.
Foreman: Foremen Scaffold Builders supervise crews that construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal scaffolds and auxiliary structures related to scaffold. Foremen may manage multiple crews of scaffold builder journeymen and helpers. Requires significant relevant construction experience and additional supervisory experience.
Training
These positions don’t require formal training, but if you need help getting ready to apply or interview, consider some soft skills courses to put your best foot forward.
The Golden Triangle Empowerment Center also offers an NCCER Level 1 introductory course that can help you develop skills and earn certifications.
How long will it take? 120 hours, 10 weeks at night
